Fort Lauderdale Florida fishing report

Report Date: April 28, 2009

As we wind down the month the breeze has kept most fishing inshore. The winds have honked 15-25 MPH for the last week. The few that were able to hang in had some great Dolphin and Kingfish action. They were close to shore with the breeze pushing them in tight. A few Sailfish were coming through too. If you crossed paths the bite was fast. It looks like the blow will slow this weekend. I should be able to sneak out again soon and grab a few bites before they leave our area. This time of year is the best time to try your luck here, yes luck is important.

The inshore weather has been more comfortable for those who don't enjoy getting knocked around. The action has been mostly Jack Crevalle and Barracuda. The mullet are starting to show and that means shots at Tarpon. Place a live one in the path and be paitient. Sometimes they slam it, other times they swim right past and make you crazy. The Snook are starting to move out of the back waters and head to the inlet and surf again. Fish the tides for your best chances.

Sea Ya,
Captain Ron Mallet
